I Fly

I fly
With swift, acrobatic hummingbirds.
With ever migrating, colorful butterflies.
With powerful keen-eyed eagles
And skimming above cool water's with flocks of hunting seagulls.

I fly
With a chorus of angels all around me
their strong wings holding true against powerful blasts of wind.
We glide high over majestic lands below,
a world of endless beauty filled with flora and fauna.

I fly
In memory's that are not mine alone
deep within a place of
darkened shadows
that coalesce with rich golden hues of light.
It is in this place that feels like home.

I fly
With a feeling that has always been within me
Buried deep withIn a lifetime of dreams
A land of wonder
Where the light of day
and blackness of night
are not at all what they seem.

I fly
High above all things
with all winged creatures.
Yet, I cannot help but feel melancholy,
For the sunrise seizes my joy,
like a thief in the night this mortal world laves me bare.

Grounded,
my soul,
Left to morn.
Left with a heavy heart filled with longing.
Left in the throes of grief.
My lungs exhale eternal silent sighs of utter sadness.
For I know not when I will ever fly again.
